If your staff wear tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE), Face Fit Testing is a legal requirement under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations and HSE guidance. A mask is only effective if it fits the wearer’s face properly. Ensuring a secure seal against harmful dust, fumes, vapours, or biohazards.
Our Face Fit Testing service ensures each worker’s mask is suitable, correctly fitted, and provides the protection it’s designed for. We carry out Qualitative testing (typically for disposable masks and half masks) using a controlled test environment and certified fit testers.
We work with construction firms, manufacturing sites, healthcare providers, utility companies, and more offering on-site or clinic-based testing that fits around your schedule. All tests include pass/fail documentation and guidance on correct usage.
Our Process
- Booking & Initial Setup
We schedule testing at a location and time that suits your workforce either at your site or one of our approved centres.
- Pre-Test Questionnaire & Briefing
Each candidate completes a short health and RPE suitability check before testing begins.
- Mask Check & Instruction
We inspect the RPE for damage, suitability, and model. If needed, we provide advice on selecting a better-fitting mask.
- Face Fit Test Procedure
The wearer undergoes a series of breathing and movement exercises while wearing the mask and hood using an aerosol or taste agent.
- Results & Certificate
Each worker receives a clear pass or fail result. Successful candidates are issued a Face Fit certificate valid for 1–2 years (depending on industry).
- Support & Retesting
We advise on when re-testing is needed (e.g. weight change, facial hair, new mask models) and can support with future site visits or group sessions.
